Propane on the jobsite

Determining how to power your equipment or heat a jobsite are some of the many decisions you may have to make as a contractor. With worksites becoming more complex, propane is a great alternative fuel source. Many contractors and construction companies are recognizing the advantages of propane-powered applications. With added flexibility, cost savings and increased productivity, propane might be a viable fuel selection for your next job.

Flexible & versatile

Propane can be used in a variety of ways in commercial settings. Temporary heating, machinery fuel and power to both portable and towable generators are just a few examples of its potential applications. Propane’s portability offers contractors the flexibility to heat where and when they need to, complete with portable tank storage. Whether you require temporary heat to keep workers warm or are heating an onsite office, there are a variety of propane heaters available to get the job done.

Cost effective

Historically, propane prices have been 30 to 35 per cent less per litre than traditional fuels. If your company stores equipment during the winter, propane is an excellent option because it will not deteriorate or harm the engine. In addition, unlike other fuels, propane cannot be siphoned, providing further security against theft.

Environmentally friendly

Many companies are becoming more aware of the footprint they leave on the environment and are turning towards greener options for the worksite. Propane emits fewer greenhouse gases into the environment and releases up to 80 per cent less smog-producing hydrocarbons. Additionally, propane is non-toxic and insoluble in water, making it a safer option than other fuels.

Across Western Canada, propane is supplied in a variety of ways, including through cylinder-exchange programs and on-site, bulk delivery. Call your local Co-op to schedule delivery, or download the Co-op CRS app for online bulk fuel ordering.
