Rethinking structural screws

Lag bolts are commonly used for securing heavy objects. However, with screws becoming popular as universal fasteners, many people are even using deck screws for framing these days. As such, the demand for high-quality screws with extra bite is ever increasing.

GRK Fasteners’ structural screws make for an ideal alternative to lag bolts. These screws come with a patented CLIMATEK coating – an approved, certified and safe alternative to hot-dipped galvanized steel for use in ACQ-treated lumber. This coating holds up significantly better in treated lumber than standard, ceramic-coated screws.

Their biggest benefit is the low-torque design that allows smooth driving of the screws with standard drills, removing the need for an impact driver. The external Torx (recessed star) head eliminates stripping and prevents bits from jumping out.

Contractors are starting to take notice. The strength of the screws, along with the ease in which they can be driven into wood and other materials, means less time and strain when fastening materials. Consider the following contractor testimonial:

“The thing I like about structural wood fasteners, it makes my job easier. Time is money – time savings equal money earned. And the beautiful thing about these (screws) is they drive easy with speed. The way they cut the threads, they really have a sharp tip that just drives right through without pre-drilling. And it gives you the confidence that you are doing your job right and you are not going to have any callbacks.”
